The countdown is on as the Imaginarium Hands-On Museum & Aquarium is looking for a million! That’s because sometime in the next week, the Imaginarium will celebrate its millionth visitor just 14 years after its opening. With less than 300 visitors to go to reach this milestone for Southwest Florida’s only hands-on museum and aquarium, anyone coming through the Imaginarium doors could be the one – one millionth, that is!
The Imaginarium has emerged over the last 14 years as a hands-on museum for people of all ages with more than 50 interactive exhibits, live animals, hands-on fun shows, 3-D theater films, as well as a full complement of educational programming including field trips, science workshops, homeschool classes, scout programs, summer camps, spring break camps, and school’s out, camp’s in sessions on other school holidays. As if that weren’t enough, a variety of seasonal family fun events and a special blockbuster traveling exhibit each year keep guests coming back for more!
The one millionth visitor and their family will be treated to a FREE VIP visit that day and receive an Imaginarium gift basket filled with fun and educational items, PLUS a one-year Family Membership to the Imaginarium that also includes free admission privileges to over 300 other museums worldwide. The Imaginarium serves as a shining example of adaptive reuse inhabiting the historic 1950’s water treatment plant site, and now stands as a City landmark and cultural resource for children and families throughout Southwest Florida, providing hands-on fun for everyone!
The Imaginarium is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm Mondays to Saturdays, and Noon to 5:00pm on Sundays. The Imaginarium is located at 2000 Cranford Avenue in downtown Fort Myers, at the intersection with MLK/S.R. 82. Admission packages are $8 for children ages 3-12, $10 for seniors age 55 & up, and $12 for adults. Admission package includes all Imaginarium exhibit experiences including SEA-to-SEE touch tank encounters, live hands-on fun shows, 3-D theater films, and a Fisheye Lagoon fish-feeding token. Imaginarium members and children under the age of 3 are always admitted free-of-charge.
